Just like in simultaneous interpreting, with the conference interpreting service, the interpreter translates speech from a booth so that the audience can follow what is being said through headphones. The interpreter must be native in the same language as the client and must have a perfect understanding of the language of the event.
For this type of interpreting, two interpreters are usually required per language to be translated, and switch every 20 minutes or so.
Conference interpreting is typically used at congresses, conferences and other general events attended by an audience who do not have a language in common.
This is both the most advanced and complicated type of interpreting where technology is concerned, but the most dynamic and flexible for participants.
