Drupal is a free open source content manager, written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License. It is used for a variety of websites, including Whitehouse.gov, the official website of the White House, and Data.gov.uk, a website where the UK government publishes its data.
This CMS is specifically conceived to create and administer internet communities. However, the vast number of additional modules available turn it into an appropriate tool for other functions such as:
- Corporate websites
- Encyclopedic websites
- Intranet applications
- E-commerce applications
Drupal is available in 110 languages and the default language is English. Furthermore, it includes support for languages that write from right to left, such as Arabic, Persian or Hebrew.
